A New Year Means a New Start!

Updated: May 24

I think that's what they say, right? Well, if it's not, it's close enough. Still, the way 2023 went, I'm surprised I made it to 2024 with all my hair in place and my sanity in tact. Well, my husband might debate with me on that part, but you get the idea. Still, it's a new year, and I'm determined to get things off on the right track. Namely by trying to be more organized, eating better, and prioritizing myself.

You know how every year people make resolutions and don't stick to them? Yeah, that's me. And I may not stick to the ones I've vowed to do right now, but at least I can say I tried. Not to mention I have the added motivator of I need to travel to different places over the next couple of years, and that means some major planning and time management on my side. I'm also trying to lose a bunch of weight before my brother's wedding, so we'll see what happens.

Now on to the fun stuff. The recap of what's been happening and what's coming! Well, I'm excited about it anyway. If you're not that's okay too.

What Happened in 2023?

What didn't happen should probably be the question, but I figure this is probably a bit more of a positive spin on things. I published 5 books, and wrote well over 600,000 words. I got a promotion at work, which meant we had to pick up and move, and we found a new home that is exactly in the middle of both sets of parents. It's a bit of a money pit with problems creeping up all over the place, but I guess things like that have to be expected.

I also learned something about myself that was hard to swallow, but something that had to be looked at. Since I was a little girl, I've loved to write. I wrote silly stuff, stupid stuff, and the overly flowery romantic stuff that made no sense because to a thirteen year old, a kiss meant forever. Anyway, I grew past that, obviously, but the point being that I LOVED to write. I found every excuse to write something. Then I started my hand at novels, but when my husband and I moved from our hometown to a new city an hour away, life got in the way and I stopped writing for about 3 years. I was miserable. Hated every second of not being able to get that creativity out. But then I got back in to it, and out of it came Fire & Ink. It was like my mind was telling me to get the hell back to work. And, I mean, I obviously listened because here I am. But then, in the past year, I was starting to get in to a place where I hated writing. I hated sitting at my computer and starting at that screen trying to make the words come and the story flow.

Nothing scared me more than realizing that maybe this was the end. The end of my inspiration, the end of my writing, and the end of the career that I want to do more than anything else. But of course, my love for my readers will never let that happen. Not only because I owe you all everything, but because it's where my happy place is. I just needed to figure out a way to get back to it. To reignite the passion inside me. So, I did what I said I would never do, and pushed back a release for a totally new book; a completely new genre for me to explore, and it brought it all flooding back. That drive, that passion for what I had before, just overwhelmed me and I was writing like mad.

All of that to say that I took a good hard look at myself, at what I want out of my writing career. What I want out of the books that I write. And also realizing that the pressure of trying to write so many books a year isn't making me happy. It stresses me out, because I also have a day job that's far busier than my last one, and comes with a lot more responsibility that I need to keep in mind. So I decided to put me first this year, and I'm going to take some of the pressure off myself. So for 2024, right now, readers will get 4 books instead of 5, with the caveat of you might get that 5th one if I get on a roll and really want to dive in to another one before the end of the year. I've put the list in the graphic below. I hope you're excited for these because I am!

What's Happening in 2024?

Well, I kind of gave it away above on what books to expect, but I have other things that are coming your way too that are also just as exciting! Bur for now I'm just going to tell you about this one.

The biggest one? The Devil's Soldiers MC is coming to Audible!!!! Yep, you read that right. All that hilarity and suspense is going to be gracing your ears very soon. All thanks to @PodiumAudio, who approached me to produce them and put them up on for me. It's been amazing, and working with them has been completely stress free. First up though is The Devil's Goddess which will be releasing on January 16th, 2024. The other books in the series that are currently published as eBooks and in print, will be released in the coming months on Audible and I'll announce those as soon as those dates come available.

I hope you're as excited as I am, because honestly this is huge news and I always hoped to be able to do audiobooks. Right now it's on the one series, but you never know what could happen!

So yeah, all kinds of great things to come this year, and I hope you're ready because I am excited. But best way to keep up with any further announcements is to make sure that you're signed up for my newsletter. You can do that below in the form.

That's it for me this time, but I'll make sure to be back soon with more great stuff! I don't know what yet, but I'll think of something. For now though, make sure to let me know what book you're most excited about reading this year.

Which Book of Mine Are You Most Excited For?

  • Jax & Saylor (Dragons MC Series Book 6)
